5Ks are great events to participate in. They get you outside and doing something healthy, you meet people, and usually the small registration fee also happens to support a good cause.

When we realized there was no central location to find out about all the 5Ks on MDI, we decided to do a post that had all of them. If you have any information to add (ex: they allow teams, there is a kid race, etc.), please leave a comment so we can update the post!

Note: these are 5Ks that are happening on a regular basis so we’ve approximated dates as they will vary year to year.

Double Note: Some of these races are actually a bit over 5K… but if they were close, we included them since people interested in 5K races might be interested in them as well!

Northeast Harbor Road Race

When: August
Where: Northeast Harbor (and along Somes Sound)
One of the oldest continuously held road races in Maine, this race is actually 5 MILES, not 5K. But all funds raised go toward the Northeast Harbor Ambulance Service and we figured we could see past the difference between empirical and metric measurements and include it in our list.

Thanks to local organizations and businesses, it looks like you can run a 5K almost every month of the year on Mount Desert Island.

Thanks to Kassie Strout who gave us use of her image from a local race for use on this post.
