Balance Rock Inn is a lovely shingle-style mansion built in 1903 and designed by the prestigious Boston architects Andrews, Jacques, and Rantouil, a firm used by many wealthy summer residents of Bar Harbor at the turn of the century. The inn is named for the “balance rock,” a rare geological formation which seemingly defies gravity by balancing on a slender stone fulcrum just off the scenic Shore Path. It is a wonderful location where guests can simply step out side to walk on the famed Shore Path or take a five-minute stroll onto Bar Harbor’s Main street. The inn also offers a great restaurant known for its small plates and cocktails where guests can enjoy a wonderful view while they satisfy their appetites.
